It is because the red fish has a higher oil content and thus higher calories.   Hence it is allowed on higher steps.

I had some tonight (maintenance). But the calories and fat are way way more than cod. AND I didn't even eat the skin.

My 100g fillet (love it when it works out so exactly and yes I am saaaad!!) had 175 calories and 10.5g fat.
A 100g piece of cod loin, my current favourite, would have had 75 calories and 0.4g fat.

But the salmon had been in the freezer since goodness knows when, so needed using up.

There is a salmon recipe in the 1000 booklet. Incase you haven't got the booklet, here it is...

50g plain couscous
100ml Boiling water
fresh chives
100g salmon fillet
tblsp fat free yog or fromage frais
fresh mint leaves
1 medium carrot
6-8cm piece of cucumber

Prep couscous by covering with the water and leave to stand for 5 mins before forking in the chives
Cook carrots
Cook salmon
Add chopped mint to yog/fromage frais + pepper to taste.
Serve salmon on bed of couscous with mint sauce and carrots and cucmber on the side

Hope this helps you have your salmon fix!!

I was gonna say you can have salmon on 1000!  I was so excited I have had it every evening so far this week (its my fave fish!!!)

Also, in Tescos you can buy a multipack of salmon portions which are all indivudually packaged and so can be frozen in these packs, they are roughly the size of the daily allowance but that suits me fine.  I got some and they are lovely.  Only downside (for me) is that they arent skinless but I bake mine in foil in the oven with some seasoning and when I serve it I just peel the skin off.

Yummy!!!

When I am making really fancy salmon I love to take a salmon filet with skin of course, but some butter on it, lemon juice, several different kinds of fresh herbs and put in tin foil and cook it in a fireplace, not in the oven, really tasty and juicy fish! :D But guess I can't eat that now ^^

you could maybe use a splash of milk instead of the butter...that might work too Smile
not sure about lemon juice on the 1000 plan though- but it still sounds yummy to me!
